Restore, Refine, Renew, and Rebuild.
Does your heart cry out for restoration and renewal today? Are you feeling worn out and worn down? Have the stresses of life stolen your peace? There is great hope, and wisdom to be found in the Bible. It can ease your worries and bring a fresh calm.
Proverbs 12:25 ESV “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.”
A quick look in the dictionary brings clarity to what we’re seeking in times of distress.
To restore means: 1. to bring back to a former, original, or normal condition. 2. To bring back to a state of health, soundness, or vigor. Sometimes it is our heart that needs restoration and repair. We realize that we have no sense of calm or rest. Worry and dread have stolen the peace we once had. Yet, God is the source of hope and healing for us. In Him we find restoration, renewal, reinforcement, and strength. Perhaps you recall and relate to these words.
Psalm 23:1,3 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
It is God Himself who will come to our rescue! He will reestablish us in Him, revive us, and build us up. He is the God who redeems. When you come to God with an honest and open heart, He welcomes you, and restores hope and trust. Whether your pain and heartache, is the result of your own troubles, or your reaction to culture and the state of our world, God opens His heart and His arms of comfort.
Psalm 51: 1,6,10,12 “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy, blot out my transgressions. Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”
Job 22:21-23a 26-27a “Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. Receive instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart. If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up… For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty and lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you…”
God has a refocus and revitalization available to you today. Why not turn to Him in your distress and receive hope and peace? He promises that He hears you, and will bring peace. He will guide you in difficult situations, because you can trust Him. He has the wisdom you seek.
1 Peter 5:6,10 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
